Children of AIDS Victims Ask for Fair Treatment

Patna: May 7, 2008

Children of AIDS Victims Ask for Fair Treatment. Photo by Shashi UttamArt, Culture, and Youth Minister Renu Devi, on the World AIDS Orphan Day on Wednesday said that it was a travesty that the children of AIDS victims were being discriminated by the society despite no fault of theirs.

"So many children are subjected to ridicule and social banishment and have to suffer silently because of something they have no control over. This is really unfortunate as these children are also the future of this nation and must be given the proper place in the society that they truly deserve," said the minister.

Several young boys including many from the National Cadet Corp and Nationals Service Scheme took party in a rally that began at Kargil Chowk and ended at the Maurya Lok Shopping Complex.

Handing out leaflets outlining AIDS impact on victims' family members, the activists vowed to spread awareness about the disease that affects millions of lives in Bihar.
