NBCC to Discipline its Employees, Contractors

Patna: May 8, 2008

The National Building and Construction Corporation (NBCC) is considering taking stern actions against its own officials and several contractors who botched the construction of drainage system in Kankarbagh wasting quite a chunk of taxpayers' money and precious time while earning the wrath of the state government.

Anup Roy Chowdhary, the Managing Director of the NBCC, after visiting the ill-fated site in Kankarbagh on Thursday, made this announcement.

The entire project in Kankarbagh is being completed in 14 stages and since the quality of work was beyond the pale, the whole plan has to restarted from scratch, said Chowdhary admitting the experience had severely damaged the goodwill and the reputation of an otherwise fine company.

Predicting delay in the completion of the Kankarbagh drainage project, Chowdhary said with monsoon season just around the corner, it would be very difficult, in not impossible to finish the project by December 2008 as previously estimated.
