Photo by Shashi UttamState Health Minister Nand Kishore Yadav while inaugurating the endoscopy unit at the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) on Friday talked about the significance of medical professionals in the modern society and how they were considered as 'gods' by those who were treated by them.

He, however, appealed to the doctors to maintain prestige and decorum as more and more cases of doctor-patient assaults were being reported giving a bad name to the entire medical community.

"There is a special trust between a patient and his doctor. He comes to you believing you have power to heal him or save him. And then we hear about clashes between the doctors and the patients or their kin and that certainly does no favor to other medical professionals," Yadav said.

Several PMCH doctors including the principal of the college Dr. R. K. P. Singh, Dr. O. P. Chowdhary, Dr. R. K. Singh, Dr. Sheila Sharma, Dr. Gopal Prasad Sinha, DR. S. N. Mishra, Dr. Vijay Prakash, Dr. A. K. Agrawal, Dr. P. N. Pandit, and Dr. C. M. Jha were present during the occasion.
