Patna: May 15, 2008
Communist Party of India (ML) national general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, at a press conference in Patna on Thursday, said the Nitish government had utterly failed to resolve the deepening power, water, and road crisis in the state and the party was gearing up to launch a statewide agitation to publicize the administration's failure on these fronts.
"The roads in Bihar have been dug deep in the pretext of construction but the ground reality is no actual work is going on adding only to the misery of the people of Bihar," Bhattacharya said.
On the power situation in Bihar, the Communist leader who defies the stereotypical leftist persona with his designers' attire and look, said the state was reeling under prolonged power cuts essentially disrupting and delaying any development work in the state.
Acute water crisis, irregularities in the Below Poverty List, failure to implement land reform policies were some of the other issues that Bhattacharya took up to criticize the Nitish government.
