Students Protest against the UPA Government
Patna: May 24, 2008
Members of the All India Students' Federation (AISF) in Patna on Saturday burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh outside Patna College campus to protest against the Central government's failure to implement the Minimum Common Program and their inability in checking the rising cost of living.
"Even after being in power for four years, the UPA government at the Center has completely failed on all fronts including failing to curb high cost of living, failing to implement the Minimum Common Program, ignoring the interests of the students, and surrendering to the bullying tactics of the United States of America," student leader Abhinav Kumar said.
Similar protest were also organized at Vanijya Mahavidyalaya and Darbhanga House where students demanded the resignation of Manmohan Singh while promising to intensify their stir if their demands were not fulfilled within a reasonable time.
