BJP Ecstatic over Win in Karnataka
Patna: May 25, 2008
Jubilant Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Patna on Sunday celebrated the party's impressive victory in Karnataka by launching fireworks and exchanging gifts while describing the win as 'historic' and a precursor to what was in for the party in the next Lok Sabha elections.
Dozens of BJP activists and supporters gathered outside the party state headquarters and danced amidst the sound of firecrackers as Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, party state president Radha Mohan Singh, and former Union Minister Shahnawaz Hussain described the victory as a slap on the UPA government that, they said, had failed to check prices of essential commodities in the nation and going soft on terrorists.
"People are simply tired of Congress' shameful opportunistic attitude in order to remain in power at any cost. Today they have lost ground in Karnataka. Tomorrow other states would follow suit that would eventually result in the demise of the UPA government in the next Lok Sabha elections," Modi said.
Other BJP leaders including Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Ganga Prasad, Dr. Sukhda Pandey, Sushma Sahu, Mangal Pandey and many others also took part in the victory celebration.
