Twin Fire Damage Properties worth over Rs. 2 lakh

Patna: May 25, 2008

In two separate fire incidents in Patna on Sunday, more than Rs. 2 lakh worth of properties were destroyed though there was no report of any injury, officials in Patna said.

In the first incident, fire broke out early morning in Sanjay Kirana Store in Rajendra Nagar under Kadam Kuan police station destroying property over Rs. 2 lakh. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident as the shop was closed when the mishap occurred.

Later, another fire broke out in the basement of the Ramayan Apartments near Dak Bungalow crossing.

Quick response by the Fire Department, however, prevented the fire from spreading in other parts of the building with damage ascertained at Rs. 50,000.

While electrical short circuits are being blamed for both incidents, officials are investigating the cases from other angles, including foul play, the police said.
