Modi Blames Poor Policies for Lack of Investment
Patna: May 25, 2008
Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, during the inaugural of the Ruban Emergency Hospital at S. P. Verma Road in Patna on Sunday, blamed poorly-formulated investment policy in the state that had failed to convince investors to put their money in Bihar.
"Our policies have failed to attract new investors in the state, particularly in the health sector, and the government is carefully reviewing them to bring proper changes so as to make them more practical from an investor's point of view" Modi said.
"Providing land for setting up new businesses, hospitals, and other establishments have been our biggest headache so far. Any time we provide land at a subsidized rate to an investor, our political opponents give it a political color thus essentially killing any project in the state," Modi said.
The 125-bed emergency care hospital founded by Col. A. K. Singh has been built by renovating an existing nursing home that was acquired in June 2006.
Besides Modi and Singh, Dr. C. P. Thakur, Dr. S. K. Singh, Dr. Shanti Rai and a number of other health professionals were present on the occasion.
The Deputy Chief Minister earlier also inaugurated a SRL Ranbaxy pathological lab in Patna on Sunday.
