Protest following Death of Ward Councilor in Police Custody
Patna: May 27, 2008
Members of the Bihar Kumhar (Prajapati) Association in Patna on Tuesday staged a dharna at the Income Tax roundabout to protest against the custodial death of Kiratpur Panchayat ward councilor in Vaishali district Fenkan Pandit demanding strict actions against all officials responsible for his death.
Pandit earlier died in police custody after being brought in for his alleged involvement in a number of criminal cases.
Demanding actions against the guilty policemen, Rs. 10 lakh to the widow of Pandit, a government job for his son, and a house under the Indira Awaas Yojana, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Nihora Prasad Yadav said crime under the Nitish administration had gone up multifold, a charge earlier reserved for the Lalu-Rabri-led RJD government.
