Nitish Lays Foundation Stones of PR Buildings in Six Districts
Patna: May 28, 2008
The Public Relations Department (PRD) will be given the additional responsibility of keeping a close vigil on all ongoing development projects in Bihar and report to the Chief Minister to ensure works are going as expected and the officials involved in the projects are performing their duties in a diligent and timely fashion.
These words were spoken by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who on Wednesday laid the foundation stones of the PRD offices in Nalanda, Munger, Jehanabad, Bettiah, Sitamarhi, and Katihar via videoconferencing.
"In the past, officials accused of corruption and other malpractices were investigating the case themselves. This will not happen anymore. A senior official would probe the case to maintain complete transparency in the investigation," the Chief Minister said.
The PR department would report to the Chief Minister's office on a daily basis with a copy of the report sent to the District Magistrates. Feedback from the ordinary people would also be collected by the PR department to make appropriate adjustment in the plans, he said.
