NDA Leaders in Damage Control Mode
Patna: May 29, 2008
A day after the vulgar public display of character and behavior by a Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA and his Janata Dal (U) counterpart in Jamui, the NDA leaders on Thursday scrambled to salvage the public image by trying to placate the two politicians and urging them to kiss and make up.
As reported in the media, during a public appearance in Jamui on Wednesday, JD-U leader and Food and Supply Minister Narendra Singh allegedly pushed BJP legislator Phalguni Prasad Yadav off the stage causing injury to his leg.
Yadav, who has alleged that Singh was in fact making a 'murderous' attempt on his life, meanwhile, while demanding the sacking of the Food and Supply Minister, filed a case against him and his legislator son Abhay Singh saying the attack left him with a fractured leg and a injury in his hip.
While denying the charges, Singh said the whole incident was an accident and he has apologized to Yadav for his emotional outburst.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leaders including the Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad have promised to take up the matter behind the closed doors and try to resolve the differences.
Modi also met with Yadav and took his account of the incident.
