BJP Holds Signature Campaign against the UPA
Patna: May 31, 2008
Members of the Patna metro Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday held a signature campaign to protest against the Congress-led UPA government for failing to check skyrocketing prices of essential commodities saying under the Manmohan government, the poor had become poorer and the middle class families were also feeling the crunch of steadily rising prices.
District president of the Patna metro BJP Kiran Shankar said the campaign against the UPA government would continue to make the people aware of the administration's failures and deficiencies and how it had ignored the interests of the poor and has gone soft on the terrorists from outside who continue to wreak havoc in the country as exemplified by the latest bomb attacks in Jaipur a few weeks ago.
Dilip Kumar, a BJP leader who organized the signature campaign at R-Block crossing, said the prices of the most basic food items had gone up several fold under the Manmohan government pushing many to the brink of starvation.
"We are worse off than we were under the NDA rule at the Center. It is clear that the UPA government has chosen to ignore the interests of the small man and this would be the demise of it in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
