IIT Entrance Test Topper Honored by CM

Photo by Anupam Singh.Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday met with the IIT entrance test topper Shiti Kanth, his mother, and sister at his residence in Patna and gave him his blessings, along with a cash award of Rs. 1 lakh for his education, saying he hoped Shiti would bring fame and name to his home state of Bihar.

Kumar said this award was just the beginning of a series of awards that the government would give away to those who bring honor to the state in a wide variety of fields, including education.

Photo by Anupam Singh.Calling the award 'Bihar Gaurav Samman' designed to honor Biharis who have brought fame to the state, Kumar said it was incumbent upon the government to honor such individuals to encourage others who would bring similar name and fame to Bihar.

Still unable to come to terms with his astounding success, Shiti, who accepted sweets from the Chief Minister's hand, said he would do his best to live up to the expectations of all his well-wishers and continue to work hard to bring fame to his his state.
