The police in Patna in conjunction with a Special Task Force on Monday busted a gang of interstate arms dealers following the arrests of 10 criminals, including two potential buyers, from near Gandhi Maidan police station.

The police also recovered Rs. 5.2 lakh in cash, two .315, and one semi-automatic rifle from the criminals' possession.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amit Kumar, during a press conference, said that police was tipped off of the criminals' presence at Gandhi Maidan.

After a quick but careful planning, the police surrounded the area near the Gandhi statue and with an element of shock and surprise, apprehended ten men in the process of making a transaction.

These men were purchasing arms from Punjab and Indo-Pak border and selling them to Maoist ultras in Bihar and Jharkhand, the SSP said.

More arrests are expected as the police continue to grill the arrested criminals.
