Arms Supplier Nabbed from Purva Express
Patna: Sept. 6, 2008
An onboard railway police squad on Purva Express on Saturday evening busted a man between Kiul and Mokama stations and seized six pistols and guns, a cell phone, and Rs. 1,100 in cash.
As reported, Pramod Mandal, after buying a ticket to Tundla in Uttar Pradesh, boarded the train at Kiul when the security officials spotted him wearing baggy 'pathan suit' and walking in an unusual manner.
After the train left Kiul station, a security team led by Railway SSIs P. S. Dikshit, B. P. Singh, and Ramayan Singh launched a search in the train and were shocked to find six arms wrapped around Pramod Mandal's thigh.
A resident of Sitakund in Munger, Mandal, during the interrogation, admitted he was a regular supplier of arms to criminals in Patna.
He said he regularly bought the arms from a man named Firoz Khan in Munger and passed it on to another person usually waiting for him near the toilets on Patna Junction.
Pramod was handed over to the Danapur Railway Police where he was being quizzed by senior officials.
More arrests are expected in the case, authorities said.
