I
was born in Delhi, was educated at Aligarh and
got a degree from Agra University, worked for
United Nations for 35 years, mostly in the
Middle East and now I live in Seattle,
Washington State, USA.
I have noticed that the knowledge of the English
language, understanding, written or spoken, of
the graduates from the Hindi belt is very
limited compared to Indian graduates from South.
Therefore, to improve upon this situation, it is
my suggestion that a special period be started
in each College of Bihar and other Hindi-belt
states where students can learn to improve their
English, i.e. to be able to understand, read and
write it better.
I am also prepared to assist in this matter. One
of my friends, a retired English Professor (Mr.
Rao) who has a life time of experience of
teaching English in USA, is prepared to guide in
this matter.
I am not a man of large words but I would
request that my message be kindly passed on to
Mr. Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar, for
his kind attention and advice, especially now
that he wants to revive and rejuvenate Bihar and
bring it to its past glory of Nalanda and
Takshshila days. Better knowledge of English
language for the graduate students will go a
long way in bringing Bihar to the mainstream of
India and abroad. I may also be able to help in
some other ways.
Thank you. NAV VARSH MANGALMAY HO.

My sincere thanks to Mr Sher Singh
Agrawal and Mr Rao for offering a
helping hand to us! Sir, you do not
have to wait for a response from our
CM. I assure you that each one of us
will contribute towards reaching the
goal of bringing back the glory,
which is limited to the History
books. Let us come up with a
concrete plan and start working on
it. We can increase the scope from
English to IT and other professional
courses, if feasible. Technology has
made it possible to start our own
channel to reach people breaching
the barriers of distance and funds.
A little research will prove that
this project needs just a few lakhs
of Rs. All we need is will-power and
well-organized management. We do not
have to depend on the government to
carry out the plan. We may have to
involve more people from other
fields of education as well. But, it
has to start somewhere by someone.
Let it be now, by us. - Kumod Jha

That is very considerate of the
author. My question to
PatnaDaily.Com is: will this message
be passed on to CM? I mean, are
there any instances as such in the
past? Education as a whole needs to
be improved in Bihar. A few years
back, only a few colleges were
providing good education and even
their sessions were late by at least
2 years for Graduate/post graduate
courses. - Jitesh Sinha - Jan. 9,
