It
was a nostalgic feeling to read about the Durga
puja celebration at Patna once again for which
the city was famous years before. Although I
have never been lucky to watch the grand art and
culture show during Puja but I have heard enough
about it from my husband and all my cousins. It
seems those were the golden days of Patna
culture when people used to visit the pandals
and watch the cultural programmes whole night .I
believe people did not mind spending the night,
even on sitting on the top of their car to watch
the dance performance by Sitara Devi or Pandit
Birju Maharaj. The atmosphere used to be as
peaceful as, it is during the navratris at
Gujrat, when ladies and girls go out at late
night decked with jewellery for dandiya .
The performers still remember those days when
they used to look forward to present their
talent in front of the people appreciated their
performance. Any growing society needs to be
culturally awakened to be called really
civilized. The growth of art and culture binds
us all in one .Other than teaching our children
to earn money by becoming professionals we must
increase our effort to generate interests of our
young ones toward our rich culture.
PatnaDaily readers who want to share their
experiences for this puja celebration is
welcome.
