I strongly condemn
the attack on Bihartimes editor Mr. Ajay and his
family. We have been waiting for sometime in
anticipation that the law and order in Bihar
will improve. But even after the change of guard
in Bihar nothing has happened. Nitish Kumar has
failed to deliver on his promises. The present
government keeps on making announcements but
with no tangible results. They can't fool the
people of Bihar for long. They will have to be
responsible. It is pathetic that the court
orders are not respected in Bihar. They have
issued a number of directives for the state to
act in cases involving kidnapping, murder and
other heinous crime but nothing has been done. I
don't know when the government will wake up.
They have no accountability, responsibility
towards the citizen. I am not in a position to
suggest any remedy for deteriorating law and
order in Bihar. I can't comment who is better
Lalu or Nitish. I think they are two sides of
the same coin. Maybe my educated Bihari brothers
and sisters will one day find a solution to this
problem. - Amit Kumar Singh, Singapore - Apr.

Regarding:
Rabri Concerned about Growing Crimes in Bihar
As I have adopted Bihar as my second home via
the Internet.
I have noticed indeed the sometimes the horrific
crimes that have taken place in our State. I
also want to commend the Patna Daily Press for
there honest objective way in which they have
reported them. Perhaps the former Govt. did not
report the crimes properly. I would suggest to
Mr. Rabri and all the concerned political
Parties. That they get on board on this one
issue and support the current Govt and endorse
and implement the New Police Act as a team
effort. The control of crime is the 1st step in
a true Democracy. When this occurs you will find
that investment will start coming into the State
and all of the people will profit. - Ronald

I was shocked to read the Central Human
Resources and Development Minister
M. A. Fatmi's statement about Nitish Kumar's
government reluctance to provide land for
setting up of IIT in Bihar. This clearly shows
his apathy towards betterment of education in
the state. It seems no politician seriously
thinks about the upliftment of educational
health of the state. - Md Nazrool Hasan -

The
government plan to open more engineering
colleges in Bihar through both government aided
and private initiative is a very welcome step.
Many students from Bihar moved out of the state
in pursuit of higher education which was
seriously lacking. Apart from exodus of good
people to other states, there was serious
outflow of money outside the state. In the
absence of conducive business environment,
parents were doing anything even selling off
land or taking huge loan to secure the study of
their children.
This good move though belated one for the state
will go a long way in ushering fast
technological development of the state. -
