Indian Scientists have successfully launched PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle,) into space on Wednesday morning. The PSLV blasted off into space at 9.24 am from the spaceport at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, 160 km from Chennai. With this launch the scientists have added another feather to their cap in space technology .They have proved that India is second to no other superpowers when it comes to space technology.

This launch is also very important because this 10th Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle has put four satellites into orbit - two Indian and one each from Argentina and Indonesia. It has raised the chances of the country's first tentative steps towards a manned mission into space. With this achievement, Indian Space and Research Organization scientists have erased the memory of the failed larger rocket launch in the summer of 2006.

We all must feel very proud of this moment of achievement. Let us all congratulate our scientists for their work.

Comments:
The news is really great for Indian technological and economic strengths. Now, India is 4th nation in the world after USA, USSR and CHINA to do so. Moreover, now India can provide satellite launching services to other countries which would bring precious dollars to strengthen our economy. Thanks to Economic Ban imposed by America, India is going great guns in defense and space research. Salutes to the Indian scientists and government. Failures are bound to happen when learning curve is going up. - Ravish Kumar - Jan. 11, 2007

A manned mission to space will be another 10 years for India from now. However, the successful deploy and recovery of the SRE (Space capsule recovery experiment) satellite would move us a step closer towards this goal. The SRE is scheduled to be brought back after 11 days of orbit. Let us keep the fingers crossed till then.

The successful launch is certainly a moment of pride for us Indians. I wish more of science graduates would opt for staying back in India for a career in research and development. - Kumod Jha - Jan. 11, 2007

Yes indeed it is a proud moment. But, in all the zeal, we should not speak the untruth...

"They have proved that India is second to no other superpowers when it comes to space technology."

Indians have proved that they are improving their technology and have a great potential. They have proved that if political and economic stability continues, they will catch up quickly. As far as second to none goes, let's be pragmatic. We were singing "Saare Jahan se achcha.." in 1969 when we were getting 486 wheat as a part of foreign aid and when WHO was working hard to stamp out smallpox in India.

I don't want to dampen the enthusiasm but let's look at it for what it is - a great stride forward, but a leap up to the front of the line ? Not yet. We have Mulayam Singhs and ULFA's as logs tied to our feet which we must deal with first. - Aarcee - Jan. 12, 2007

Yeah, of course it is proud moment for all the Indians around the globe. The people who work 24x7 deserve to make this as their proudest day in their lives and they truly deserve this big comments and thanks from everyone. - Ankit Upadhyay - Jan. 13, 2007
