Pakistan is burning and the rippling waves coming from Lal Masjid of Islamabad is fluttering entire world. Before looking the current scenario let’s talk a little about the history of Lal Masjid.

This mosque became popular when longest ruling dictator of Pakistan General Zia-ul-Haq started loving this place. It was 1980’s era when all Islamic worlds were fighting against Soviet invasion in Afghanistan, of course with the help and blessing of America. Lal Masjid was center place for this Jihad in Islamabad as the mosque is located near the headquarters of Pakistan’s notorious spy agency ISI. Maulana Abdullah was heading this mosque and his speeches on Jihad were very famous. Now it is lead by his two sons, Maulana Abdul Aziz and Abdul Rashid Ghazi. The mosque always accepted their links with Al Qaeda and so on with Osama Bin Laden but after 9/11 attacks of US the deny any such connection.

The US fight against Taliban and Al Qaeda drives them to cut their activities of so called Jihad. But their anger for US and Musharraf was clear as they were always against any such act. When US was in full form they didn’t dare to brag much but now when US is not much active in Afghanistan and Musharraf is also in trouble for so many reasons they have started their activities and demand. Maulana Masood Azhar of “Kabul-Hijack” fame had started asking for the life of General in his recent speeches in Lal Masjid, which resulted into many failed attacks on Musarraf. This prompts a war between Lal Masjid and Pakistani government.

Lal Masjid has very strong links with so many areas and groups of Pakistan. They also have strong hold in tribal areas and hence Government is scared about the outcome of any forceful action. This battle may ruin the reputation of Pakistan as a country fighting against terrorism.

There is very nice saying in Hindi, “Jo dusro ke liye gaddhe khodta hai ek din woh khud bhi usi gaddhe me girta hai”, which means if you will dig well for others someday you will also fall in that. This is what happening with Pakistan now. They started this Jihad with the help of US and now they are suffering from the effect of this Jihad.

Comments:
This is not only the example in Pakistan. Almost entire Pakistan is having same burning issue. And this is really very alarming situation especially for India. Whenever any Pakistani rulers failed to cure common people problems, and with the effect of the same, "GRIHYUDH" bound to happen they simply divert this as a war or heavy infiltration in India, either directly or indirectly. Now again the same thing is happening all around the Pakistan. This neighboring country is currently sitting on an about to blast bomb. In this context we need to be very watchful and careful because any time any thing can be happen in our bordering areas. After all they don't have any best choice left to curb this type of situation

Hi Saroj,

Thanks for sharing your views.

I do agree with you that whenever Pakistan will have "GrihYudh" it will try to deviate it through war against India. It's very easy for them to divert people's mind by invoking this emotional issue of war against India. Indeed, we will have to be watchful and careful about it.

I think India should also offer its help to Pakistan if they need to curb the current situation. I know it's tough because they will never accept it but surely it would be a good move for betterment of relationship between both countries. - Nitesh Ambuj - July 10, 2007
