Irrespective of what Shivanand Tiwari says it seems RJD’s ‘Chetawani Rally’ has been a success. I wonder how come Nitish Kumar has allowed such an opportunistic person to speak on behalf of his party. I would like to remind readers about the way this person, when he was in RJD, had gone about humiliating an upright and honest civil servant C K Anil for doing his duty. Had Laluji not discouraged him, in his own interest, we were sure to see some more dark side of his loyalty to Shahabuddin, who is definitely a convicted criminal.

After coming to Government many leaders of the ruling alliance were behaving as if there is no opposition party in Bihar and as if they have got mandate to rule Bihar till eternity. With the success of ‘Chetawani Rally’ I think it is time for them to realize that there is indeed an opposition party which can take advantage of their failure. Honeymoon is over, it is time for NDA government to start showing the results to public in infrastructure, law and order, health, education and investment.

Answer to success of ‘Chetawani Rally’ is not the dirty mouth of Shivanand Tiwari but some good results on the ground.

This is the beauty of India’s democracy; you can’t take its people for granted. After Emergency everybody thought Indira Gandhi was finished and ‘Janta Party’ was the way forward but she came back and she came back in a big way.

I can understand the NDA’s talk of investigating RJD’s funds out of frustration of rising opposition whom, they thought, they had finished forever but I am sure somewhere they must be realizing that people gave them opportunity to rule Bihar based on their promises and only way to move forward is to work hard towards keeping those promises.

Nitish Kumar has changed agenda of politics in Bihar. Development is now at the centre of politics in Bihar. ‘Chetawani’ or whatever, Lalu or Nitish, people will now judge them only on development issues. Who could have believed that Lalu Yadav will become Management Guru and will become one of the supporters of Indo-American Nuclear Deal? I am very proud that this successful ‘Chetwani Rally’ was organised by a leader who is supporter of Indo-American Nuclear Deal.

Recently one journalist asked Laluji, “Don’t you think that your Muslim Supporters will be disappointed with your support to Indo-American Nuclear Deal?” Our Laluji proudly said, “We are supporting this deal for bijlee, energy, I have not done any sin.” Only if Manmohan Singh had relied on mass leader like Laluji to take the good messages of Indo-American Nuclear Deal to masses, no left or right wind political party would have dared to go against this deal which is so vital to India’s national interest.

Comments:
From the reports that emanated from Patna about the Chetawani Rally, it seems that the Rally may, indeed, have been made a success. A few lakhs of people, reportedly from various parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and Orissa were made to attend it, thanks to possibly the management guru Laluji, who managed the resources of Indian Railways so well here!

This Chetawani Rally was indeed necessary or not, it may be debatable. But it is true that such events, if occurs only once in a while and if not made a regular feature, would prove rather not bad for the people of the state. It would surely help a good deal in keeping the ruling set up in more active mode.

However, the present state government is already on the right path. A great amount of work is going on in the whole of Bihar especially, on improving the health of State Highways in whole of Bihar. Though I don’t reside in Bihar now, I’ve learnt from the people directly involved in the road projects that all over Bihar, the State Highways are being widened and strengthened. These works are being made to really happen in those areas which might have been termed impossible a few years back. They were telling that they initially faced some law & order problems but these problems are now dealt with earnestly by the Government and the goonda elements are being given what they deserve!

Likewise, works are reportedly going on improving the Power scenario of the state. Works on renovation of Kanti and Barauni thermal Power Projects are in full swing. Similar is the state of measures that are being taken for putting in shape the education system.

Though a lot is still to be done on these fronts, it is true that these works need a lot of resources and time to complete. It is, however, heartening to listen to the AAHAT of development in our Bihar! - Rakesh Kumar - Nov. 1, 2007

Sharmaji,

Aapke Laluji ko bahut jaldi "chetawani rally" ki yaad aa gayee! In his 15 years of rule, he forgot to do any development of Bihar though. And now he is telling Nitish to hurry. "Lalu siyaar ki bhesh mein geedar hai".

You can see how his management acumen got tossed away as he made railway passengers wait infinitely for the rally to serve his own ends that too blatantly. The nod for Nuclear deal is no good message from this "leader" who promotes "lalten for his agenda and in whose government, all the power plants went bust.

Stop behaving like Shivanand Tiwari yourself and give Nitish enough time. - Ajay Kumar Jha - Nov. 1, 2007

Laluji ruined Bihar for 15 years. When all other states were progressing he made sure that Bihari people live in acute misery and pain.

He made buffoonery a synonymous to Bihari. Now Laluji is desperate for power which is a distant dream. Give some time to Nitish Kumar , things are changing in Bihar.

If you don’t want to see the changes then it doesn’t change the truth. I wonder "Development" was ever there in the dictionary of Laluji before he got defeated in Elections few years back.

Laluji is best when it comes to boasting. Any person in real sense would know that Laluji is supporting Congress to avoid any mid term polls.

He will loose his position as 2nd largest group which supports Congress at Center if Polling is done now. How can one forget that he is the same person who opposed computers in India saying it will lead to unemployment.

Bihari Junta is not crazy and as long as the elections are held free and fair only decent people will win elections in Bihar. - Ashok Sharma - Nov. 1, 2007

Lalu is just a hoodlum who makes a lot of noise but no work. Railway has improved because of good work done by Nitish Kumar whose hard work is bearing fruits now. And the conman Lalu is leaving no opportunity in putting his name on fruits of Nitish.

Even if Nitish loses next election, next CM would see prosperity of Bihar, if it's Lalu, he would say he has made development in Bihar though it may be the planning and foresightedness of Nitish which would be bearing fruit in next 5 or 10 years. - Ujjwal, UK - Nov 1, 2007

I partially agree with your idea about the “Chetawani Rally” results. The rally has been an ordinary success for Laluji but has given him a one square inch marble platform to stand and lookup for the opportunities to regain the power in Bihar. Many intellectuals have been condemning the rallies due to discomfort caused to the general public. But here one thing is to be kept in mind, that Bihar has been the land of rallies. Here, the politics starts from the remote villages and terminates in Gandhi Maidan for all the possible reasons. Laluji has been a great artist to play the power game through this mass movement.

Those, who are really feeling that Laluji has got back the lost faith in general public, are jumping to conclusions too soon. I view this rally as a desperate move to bring the outrunning volunteers (karyakartas) due to power shift. Here, in Bihar, it has been general trend for so long to move towards power, money, theka, hold. If the RJD is kept out of power for much time, its base is going to erode soon. This theory is supported by movement of top politicians like S. Tiwari, Narendra Singh and others.

What I like about Biharis, it their selflessness. They provide great power to anyone coming to them and begging for support, that too for just POORI – GHUGHNI for a day. - Ravish Kumar, Hyderabad - Nov. 2, 2007
