On March
24th 2008 my family members (all citizens of US)
were robbed at Lakhisarai railway station. They
were traveling from Deoghar to Patna by
Janshatabdi Express. The robber got away with a
gold chain worth more than Rs. 15,000 from one
of the ladies when the train started moving
after stoppage at the station.
This type of incident which occurs in most of
the trains almost on daily basis and considered
not a big deal by the police. But as an active
member of American Organisation for the
Development of Bihar (AODB) I am shocked and
outraged by the incident and feel it must be
dealt sternly by the local authorities because
victims are in almost all cases non-residents of
Bihar and worsens the already bad image of the
state.
My grandsons who performed several times in
fundraising party of AODB and my son-in-law who
happens to be the ex-treasurer of the AODB are
really shocked not because of the incident to
them but because of the indifference of the
authorities and public in general as if nothing
happened. Hope the media takes up the issue to
awaken the public. Knowledge is power and
prevents the crime.

Respected Mr. Kishori Lall Jee,
Pranam,
It’s sad and unfortunate what
happened with your family in
Lakhisarai; certainly this kind of
things should be criticized and
opposed by majority of people in a
sensible society, and not to mention
the administration must take
appropriate action, there is no
place of excuses and ignorance from
them at least.
I am an optimistic that common
people in Bihar are sensible. To me
it looks like that you have written
this article in anger, otherwise
such comment was not expected from a
member of the family who is always
involved in betterment of Bihar.
I would like to add here that the
incident that happened with you is
quite common across India, name it
Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune or
Kolkata. Don’t take it otherwise, I
am not making excuses, but my
question is why the name BIHAR or
people of BIHAR are in discussion?
Certainly it’s not the way to handle
a situation, not even going to show
the light towards solution to the
problem.
I want to ask one question, Mr.
Kishori Lall Jee.
What does it make sense to that
chain snatcher that you are a member
of AODB or what all good things you
have done for Bihar?
What difference is it to that chain
snatcher that you are an NRI? Do you
think a chain snatcher will spare a
Bihari?
I strongly believe, for a chain
snatcher NRIs, Biharis or Marathis
are the same, no one should expect
privilege or special treatment from
bad elements of the society.
As far as the administration is
concerned, the law is same for an
NRI, a Bihari, or a Marathi. Kindly
don’t think that the administration
has not done their job because you
are an NRI. If they are “nikamma”,
they are for all.
Kindly take my response in sensible
way, I don’t want to make you more
angry.
