Readers' Reactions on Raj Thackeray's Anti-Chhath Comments

Mamta Dwivedi writes (Feb. 15, 2008):

I wonder how many of us are feeling the way I am feeling today. Its a shame to be a silent spectator of all these going around and watching everything helplessly (yes its about things going on in Maharashtra). I being related to both UP and Bihar in one or the other way is finding it intolerable any more. I feel it's high time for all of us to wake up and join hands to protect the PRIDE of us. I appeal all who are shaken up by these events to come together. It had happened in Assam, now in Maharashtra and if we don't speak now everyone will use us as soft targets. Please join hands for our self-esteem and pride.

Regionalism is a major concern. People like Raj Thackeray are a real threat to the integrity of our nation. For cheap publicity they don't hesitate to hurt feelings of others. His remarks against the people of Bihar and UP are not new. He even dared to pour venom against Amitabh Bachchan who is respected all over the world because of his hard work and love from all regions, races and religions. As far as people of Bihar are concerned, they don't care if they are Bihari, Marathi, Tamil etc. They firmly believe in being Indian. Although we should create our own economic centers which is not very difficult as we have our own big consumer base and stop migration in large scale which is a big factor in bias against Bihari people all over the nation. Migration is also hurting Bihar because of the fact that many eligible and intellectual people are leaving Bihar and serving other states.

Mr. Raj Thackeray seems to be the most ignorant about Chhath Puja. By his comments, he has shown disrespect towards the people of Bihar as well as towards the entire creation because it is the solar energy which sustains all of us including Mr. Raj Thackeray and Chhath puja is the worship of Lord Sun (the source of Solar Energy). I suggest him to read the information mentioned below to dispel his doubts.

The word Chhath is a compound of two words Chah and Hath. Chah means 6 stages and Hath refers to the science of Hath Yog (austerity). So, the word Chhath refers to the process of consciously obtaining the solar energy through 6 stages involving the methods similar to Hath Yog. Hath here refers to the austerities like fasting, standing in water, etc. The entire process of Chhath is divided into 6 scientific stages.

What is Chhath Puja? Chhath Puja is a scientific process of conserving the cosmic energy, balancing its flow, awakening the superhuman powers and transmitting the energy throughout the universe. Through the scientific method of Chhath, we can obtain the solar energy consciously and directly from Sun in greater proportions. During sunrise and sunset periods the ultraviolet radiation levels remain in safe limits. Hence, in Chhath Puja, there is a tradition of offering arghya to Sun in late evening and in early morning. With the body purified by the prescribed method of fasting, the Vratti (devotee) stands in water and facing Bhagwan Surya (the Sun) the light energy (photons) present in the sunrays is trapped by photoreceptor cells of Retina in the eyes. This results in emission of subtle bioelectricity, which recharges the brain and the body with the solar energy. (Excerpts from http://www.freewebs.com/chhathpuja)

We need to discipline any hate monger who spreads hate against people of my great country INDIA.

People like these incite crime against diverse communities, resulting in riots and mass genocides.

We need to teach these hate mongers to respect the people of our country. We want our children to grow up in a free world, a free country, not a feared country

Lets take head-on these guys and teach the community haters a big lesson.

Yogishri Oumkaar writes (Feb. 6, 2008):

The central government is running smooth because of support from Bihar MPs. A big chunk of IAS officers working for the nation are from Bihar. The big cities like Delhi, Mumbai etc have their glitter and glamour because the migrant laborers from Bihar have contributed their sweat and toil. With all this, see what we are getting in this country. What is this? Where is our constitution? Where are our leaders? Chetavani Rally can be held against a performing government. Sankalp rally can be held for no reason at all but when our people from Bihar are beaten up and humiliated, there are only diplomatic comments coming from our leaders. Can Advani Ji initiate a Rath Yatra to protest this humiliating behavior shown towards the people of Bihar/UP? Can the Rally Expert Lalu Ji hold a rally protesting the same? Definitely not, because this doesn't concern their vote bank.

Dr. Ravi Shankar writes (Feb. 6, 2008):

I have very simple and clear question from our so great leaders and politicians from Bihar and UP. If they are really so much concerned about the state and its people, then what they are doing except Naarebazi? Why not Mr. Paswan, Mayawati, and Lalu Yadav are threatening to pull out of the government of India that is sitting as a mute spectator and has done nothing ever for Bihar even after repeated attacks on Biharis everywhere? Why not our leaders in Parliament are staging walk outs from the Parliament?

If Mr. Lalu Yadav has so much respect for Chhath God why not he is taking up the central government and threatening to bring down the government if Bihari respect is not restored? Why left which was so much vocal on nuclear issue is sitting silent and not threatening the government to pull down?

Mr. Yadav alone would be sufficient to do this. By doing this maybe he would be losing central government for a while but a sure-shot win over hearts of Biharis who are smoldering for revenge for the disrespect and third-rate citizen treatment given to them by the Maharashtra government as well as the central government that has ignored them always even after repeated assaults. Bihari leaders now need to unite and practice their power. They must show the world that how much important Bihar and Biharis are for India and the Government of India can't run by ignoring the interests of Bihar.

I shall be glad if our leaders immediately formulate the plan along with UP, Delhi, Haryana counterparts.
