I was
immensely pained by reading Mr. Nalin Verma's
report in The Telegraph, Calcutta Edition, dated
31st May 2008. Mr. Nalin Verma reported that
Shitikanth is the first student from Bihar to
top IIT JEE exam.
It appears that Mr. Nalin Verma does not know
that in 1993 Prasoon Kumar from Bokaro topped
IIT JEE exam and then again Abhinav Kumar from
Jamshedpur in 1997 topped the same exam. If Mr.
Nalin Verma knew this then let me remind him
that Jharkhand did not exist before 2000. Both
Bokaro in 1993 and Jamshedpur in 1997 was part
of Bihar. This kind of irresponsible and
misleading reporting is unfortunate for and
calls for an apology from Mr. Nalin Verma. I
wanted to bring the attention of readers of
PatnaDaily to this blatant error on the part of
Mr. Nalin Verma.

People
of Bihar themselves are responsible
for such kind of reports.
I guess The telegraph reporter,
Nalin Verma, would be having his
roots in Bihar, and he would have
migrated to some other place.
If such persons throw bad light
about their own places, then we
cannot put hand on others' mouth, if
they speak bad about Bihar.
Today society has become so
publicity hungry that they are ready
to give bad news about themselves
also just to get media attention. -

Well Ratan ji your point is well
taken. But these are some of the
instances when we as a Biharis feel
very helpless as to what to do about
those who have decided that there
exists nothing good in Bihar. And if
they find anything good, they
portray it as once in a blue moon.
They simply refuse to accept that
Bihar is no different from the rest
of the India. Bihar is as
badland/good land as the rest of the
India is. It may be more
underdeveloped than some of the so
called "developed state" but even
they have similar problems what
Bihar is facing. - Ajeet Kumar -
