Navigation System on the Ganges

I live in
Thailand , a country of 60 million people and
one of the foremost and largest rice exporter in
the world.
The river Chao Phrya, the main river in
Thailand, is the chief source of water and
transportation.
Millions of tons of rice is transported on
barges thorough this river; tugged by a small
boat which consumes very little fuel but can
pull almost 100 truck load of rice
I was very surprised to see the efficient manner
in which the navigation system existed on the
length of 800 Kms of the river thus saving
million of dollars on fuel and making rice as an
affordable staple diet of millions of people
across the world.
The river Ganges navigation system should be
exploited to the maximum extent connecting Patna
to Bhagalpur , Kolkata and also the same river
could be used to directly ship out export
containers on feeder ships which can connect to
Haldia port and ship to world over
Now , if anyone has to export anything from
Bihar , he is greeted by huge transport cost and
also the number of days it takes the goods to
reach any port.
There are cruises on Main Land China's Yanszte
Kiang River why cannot be start cruises on Patna
to Kolkata Sector ?
I think that the central government should
exploit the navigation system by investing one
time and giving benefits to generations coming
up.
The state government can make a visit to
Thailand , Vietnam and Cambodia and make study
on how these countries use their rivers to
transport goods and believe me it would be a
learning experience and eye opener for many who
have a vision to make Bihar reachable to the
world.
May be someone can send this suggestion to the
CMO and can work on this idea.
Incase anyone is interested to learn more on
this area of logistics, please send me anemail
.
