World Health Organization (WHO) has declared coronavirus (COVID-19) a ‘pandemic’ as it has spread in more than 170 countries and it is affecting every sector and individuals.
Millions, Billions, Trillions
I know not.
French kiss or Indian hugs,
I know not.
Social contacts, HIV or cancer,
I know not.
Party food, roast dog meat, or fried bacon,
I know not.
I am not Celia’s Song of Jonson,
Or Dickinson’s sandal table,
I am free and bold,
Walk in hot or cold,
In Chapel, Mosque, Temple,
Gurudwara or be it Synagogue.
Any time all time
On the lock of your iron shell,
Wherein lies heaps of pearls,
Diamonds and gold,
Dipped in human blood,
I live there in the squeezed hands
Of Prince and Princess, and
Shine brightly on the clanks of wine glasses
In the hands of State Heads.
I live on the red lips of Miss Universe,
I live on cherry chins of Mistress
In her brass bed of passion of the cozy home,
I am there.
Fight me if you dare,
I have put my signature as:
‘The World is closed today’
I am out and walk proudly,
Fearless Patriarch not to be seen
And you all imprisoned in your egg shell.
It’s I: your Corona micro baby.
Now out from the punctured pink balloon,
That was thrown on the silky road of Wuhan.
I am spiky and colorless from the colored;
Rose up from a sharp and shiny nails of mortal beauty
And danced in the eyes of Maneka.
How poor that man gazing out from the window
As turtle walks shaking head
To see the clear blue sky.
‘Get in… I the COVID command you.
Don’t you see__
I am speechless,
But not hopeless and hapless
At any boundary of The Great Wall of China.
I did mine. Now you do yours.
I am not the furious fire of Amazon,
I am not high tides in the ocean of Tokyo,
I am not the deep earth crack of Latoor,
And the Hurricanes of America.
You all sleep in silence and buzz not of me
That has fallen as broken star on your earth planet.
I am your own COVID.

In the wake of the Delhi riots (Feb. 23-25, 2020), tension or mistrust between the Hindus and the Muslims was bound to rise. At the same time, however, scores of people on both sides were willing to throw themselves into the charged atmosphere to calm the situation. The need of the hour is to salute them on behalf of the nation, bring them together and empower them for the sake of peace and harmony in the community and the country.
As a child, I went to a village school where the students from different castes, creeds and religions were seated and taught together under the same roof without any discrimination. In class six, my first teacher of English, Md Ali, popularly known as Maulavi Saheb who taught me the ABC of English was from the Muslim community.
Many learned people have been quick to draw parallels between the riots of Feb 2020 and the anti-Sikh pogrom of Oct 1984. The comparison may appear to be ludicrous. However, observers with perspective and experience cannot be stopped from making relative assessments of the two tragic incidents. Both of them took place in the national capital of Delhi.
Although, Uttarakhand has given India a number of personalities whose contributions are well noted, yet among them, four highly notable, daring personalities and “jewels” from contemporary Uttarakhand State have been playing key roles in shaping the new India under Modi's leadership. General Rawat, CM Yogi, NSA Doval and former RAW Chief Dhasmana are those personalities. In fact, they are really international personalities.
Do the Biharis (along with other Purvanchalis) really matter in the Delhi Elections to be held on 8 February 2020? Can they tip the electoral balance? What will be the overall result? Here is a brief outline of the electoral scene.
It’s a matter of great pride for the people of Bihar that Jagat Prakash Nadda, a former resident of Patna has taken over the reins of the leadership of the national ruling (political) party, the BJP. An alumnus of Patna University, he actively participated in the 1974 Bihar movement. It’s there, he first honed in on his leadership abilities.
At least two of the Nitish’s hand-picked functionaries of the Janata Dal (U) -- Pawan Varma and Prashant Kishor -- sought to publicly embarrass their boss by questioning his support to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The two might have liked Nitish to distance himself and the party from the BJP or flip to the other side to defeat the agenda of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
Being an important functionary of the JD(U) party wherein he knows he was installed as the Vice-President (with a heavy-hand arbitrarily without following inner-party democratic process), Prashant Kishor (b. 1977) may speak up on behalf of the PARTY, but not on behalf of the GOVERNMENT.
