Hung Delhi Assembly is ironic and an indication of democratic outlaw. 65% poll is a proof in itself that the majority of the people want the formation of the government. How pity that people have registered their opinion under the provision of the constitutional obligation but failed to have a legal government? Coalition mantra is not working; horse trading is very risky as the size of the total seat is just 62. What a bad arithmetic!
The demography of Delhi is not like Bihar or Uttar Pradesh or any other state of the country. In a situation like this, even the division of party could be a well thought legal step for the formation of the government. Several past examples are self explanatory to prove this. Fractured opinion is showing peoples ‘disloyalty to democracy in line with party policy. What we sow, we reap. Who do we choose as ruler: is a never ending story? Whether the party in power belongs to a ruling party or the party is dictated by an organized and legalized group of people under the garb of upper hand is a serious matter for every democrat of the country.
Hereafter, in view of the political uncertainty in Delhi, what comes before the politicians during the current wealthy season is to make paradoxical statements in the media world like:
‘Party will decide… party president will decide… elected number of the MLAs is not sufficient to form the government… party is not in the majority… I am a small party worker… I am not above the party… I am not the authorized person to take the decision’ etc and the continuity of the same finally turn into another party.' The election commission has to allot a party symbol regardless of peoples’ feelings. Above all, it has to oblige the Constitution.
The politician incumbents have now been authorized to rule the country. The most frightening outcome of this political game is that the ruling party wants to rule the country because it serves the country. Hypocrisy in democracy is fatal. Hollow enchantments of unity do not apply to the people of the country only. Unruly gets the rewards in the name of service to the nation is not less than a frenzied and organized social crime. The continuation of the same will never take the nation in competition with our counterparts across the world. Service to the nation is sacred to every Indian. Hunger for power is bound to weaken the engine of the largest democracy of the world.
The land of India and her people is primarily a welfare state in its nature and work. Value based politics since time immemorial is the backbone of Indian civilization and culture. Party is not all. What matters the most is selfless and dedicated service to the nation and the people. Talking of duality in unity is self deceptive and a mirage to be cached. Just on the basis of magical arithmetic, mechanics of politics is not the ultimate goal of successful democracy.
